October 15, 2007… after 15 hours of labor, I finally gave birth to my son via c-section. I must say, it was the most physically strenuous thing ever.

At 4:00am on October 14, I started feeling some cramping around the abdomen area. I had to say “area” because I couldn’t really tell which part hurt considering how gigantic my very pregnant belly was. Anyway, the next contraction came at 5:00, then at 5:30 and at 6:00. I finally woke Jay-R up and told him that if it still hurt by 7:00am, I’d call my doctor. And so it did and so I did.

We met her at around 9:00am at BC Women’s Hospital. She checked to see if my membranes have ruptured, commonly known as “water breakage”. She told me that I’d probably deliver my baby in a couple of days because it was still intact. But of course, baby had other plans. After being finger checked (I know, too much information), we found out that I was already 3-4 cm dilated. For those who are not sure what that means… the cervix has to be 10 cm open to be able to deliver the babe. She sent me home and told me to come back around noon. She suggested that I walk up and down the stairs to help with the progress.

After an unplanned workout (walking up and down the stairs), we returned to the hospital. They checked us in at triage and we waited, waited and waited. After a couple of hours, a nurse came in and said a magic word… “morphine”. At this point, the contractions were coming every 10 minutes and hurting like a *–censored–*. She told us to walk around the hospital after administering some fun juice. I couldn’t quite remember what went on when I was high on morphine. Jay-R did mention that I kept falling asleep in the middle of a conversation. Not surprising… as if that doesn’t happen when I’m completely sane.

They finally moved us to a birthing room around 7:00pm. I was then introduced to another magic word “nitrous oxide” a.k.a. “laughing gas”. So, I sat there inhaling as the contractions came. After half an hour, the contractions were coming every 3-4 minutes. I was on the bed, on a birthing ball… pretty much everywhere… going crazy. They were doing all they can to alleviate the pain, but nothing really helped. The laughing gas was useless at that point. I think I screamed a couple of times. I do remember screaming “Mommy!!!”. Around 11:00pm, they finally decided that it was time to push. I think I’ve tried every single position… lying down, sitting up, doing the Britney Spears (on all fours), etc.

Quick info: it’s easier to deliver a baby when his/her face is facing down (towards the bum). At 1:00am, the doctor told us that my baby was facing sideways therefore made the pain worse than it should. I was pretty close to passing out at that point so I asked for the mother of all fun juice… the epidural. It surprised me how well this drug worked. I felt no pain just a few minutes after it was administered. After taking some unattractive photos of myself, we tried and failed to push. My doctor then gave us two options… either she use forceps and yank him out or send me to the O.R. for a c-section. I opted for the c-section because I’ve heard not-so-great stories about forceps.

Finally, on October 15, 2007 at 3:02am, I finally delivered a healthy 21 inch, 9 lb and 6 oz baby boy. We named him Aidan Mateo.

Aidan is a little over a month old now and he is such a treat. He is definitely worth all that pain. I finally finished my pregnancy video. See below… Try not to cry. I get teary eyed whenever I watch it.

I’ve had my computer for almost 3 years and I just found out that it has this little program called “Windows Movie Maker”. I feel like a total goof. Word of advice: Manuals are helpful… read ‘em.

Anyway, finding this nifty little program created a whole different past time for me. I still have 6 days to go before my due date… I got lots of time to kill. Here are two videos I created. I’m normally technologically challenged so the ability to create these videos gave me a sense of pride…

Happy 1st Birthday Pablo!

About 4 weeks after my last post, my fiance (who is now my husband) and I found out we’re pregnant. With this exciting news, WordPress was put in the back burner. I’ve been off work for over a month now and almost ready to pop. Now, I finally have the time to type in my thoughts and whatnots here. Tomorrow is week 39… meaning, one more week to go. Basically, my baby will come out between now and 2 weeks after my due date. Hopefully sooner.

For those who want to know how it’s like to be pregnant, it’s a mix of every single feeling one could have. It’s exciting, irritating, wonderful and frustrating. I guess it’s the anticipation of the unknown that freaks the hibbyjibbbys out of me. Hollywood definitely sensationalizes pregnancies. It really isn’t that pretty. I’ve got stretch marks in places I never imagined I would. There really is so much to complain about. Then, I stop and think about this little guy (yes, we’re having a BOY!), and he makes it all worth it… all the pain, pee breaks and psychotic episodes.

I have to say the past 2 weeks have been quite confusing for me. Lots of things going on in life. I’m not really conplaining about the fact that my life is eventful. It is the stress, not to mention the excruciating migraines, attached to those events that bother me so much. I wish I could elaborate on what I’m blabbering about just so my readers (all 3 of you… you know who you are) can understand my “whine-y” attitude.

November 28, 2006… it was a pretty normal day in Vegas. Lots of walking, talking and sight seeing. I wouldn’t have guessed that Jay-R had plans. We walked from Monte Carlo, our hotel, all the way to the Fashion Mall. It was quite a walk. we stopped at New York, New York for breakfast/lunch, then Madame Tusauds to grab J.Lo’s famous behind.

Our last stop was the Fashion Mall. I was too tired even for shopping. It was probably around 6 when we decided to go back to our hotel room. We really had to take a cab or my legs would’ve fallen off. Everything was still normal, I got dressed… put my make up on… etc, etc. We went to Shintaro, a Japanese restaurant at the Bellagio, for dinner. We had a great view of the fountains. He seemed really clumsy that night. He spilled his red wine all over the dinner table that they had to move us. I started to think, “hmm… what the?” but shrugged it off. We ordered sushi for starters… for dinner, I had the steak and he had the salmon… it was good, very good. During dinner, we asked the server why the fountains weren’t going off. He said that when the wind is really strong the fountains automatically shut off. Right after dinner, Jay-R excused himself. He got up, walked to the patio door and attempted to open it. Unfortunately, they were locked. He walked towards me, took my right hand and said “Baby… is this the right hand?” I laughed so hard that my drink almost came out of my nose. It was strange because I was laughing and tearing up at the same time. I said “No honey, it’s the other hand.” So, he took my left hand and said, “Baby, will you marry me?” Then, I just sat there. It took about 10 seconds for my brain to register what he just said. I said “Yes” about three times, I think.

It was that fast… we’re engaged. No date yet but we’re really not in a hurry. I’m happy.

Two weeks and three days ago, I became the mother of the cutest little puppy in the world. Pablo is a male, Pekingese and Japanese Chin cross with lots and lots of energy.
It’s funny how having a dog is like having a kid. So far, his favorite pastimes are playing, eating and sleeping (especially sleeping). Here’s a clip of Pablo and my boyfriend’s niece, Caitlyn.

I feel pretty… oh so pretty…

Okay, maybe not so much considering I look more like a boy according to myheritage.com. Below are the celebs that I look like… supposedly. I’m surprised that only 2 of the 8 look-alikes are Asian (Hello, I’m 95% Asian… note: If you’re Filipino, there is no such thing as 100% Asian). So, if you have nothing to do, take a close look and you be the judge.

- Australian naturalist and television personality Steve Irwin has been killed by a stingray during a diving expedition off the Australian coast. Mr Irwin, 44, died after being struck in the chest by the stingray’s barb while he was filming a documentary in Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef. -

- Mr Irwin’s manager John Stainton told the BBC the stingray’s barb had pierced the personality’s heart. “He came over the top of a stingray and a barb, the stingray’s barb went up and put a hole into his heart,” he said. -

WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT?! Who would have thought that of all the dangerous creatures Steve Irwin dealt with, it would be a bull stingray that would kill him. There had only been 2 reports of human fatality in Australia… I guess 3 now.

I’ve never seen Mr. Irwin’s show… maybe for a few seconds when I’m channel surfing. I don’t know much about him… except that time when he was on the news for bringing his infant son ever so close to a crocodile. Then… why am I spending minutes of my life blogging about him?! Well, his story is the perfect example of life and death… you gotta go when you gotta go. It’s sad but true. Have you ever thought of the fact that you are dying the moment you are born? Some people say that we are but sands in the hourglass of time. I know it sounds depressing.

But then again, it’s not about his death… not about ours. It’s all about how you spend that little blip in time… your life. Steve Irwin may only have lived until 44 but he sure lived one hell of a life.

So, what are you going to do? Sit around all day and watch your life clock tick away OR make the best out of the oh-so little time you have?
